A Unique Place To Stay In Melbourne

Apartment Hotels may offer reasonable comfort and convenience, but many of them provide only a generic and easy-to-forget experience. Travelers to Melbourne, however, can enjoy a one-of-a-kind experience at Treasury on Collins, a unique and historic location in the Central Business District. The following are some of the features that distinguish this hotel from many others.

The History Of The Building

Treasury on Collins was originally built as the Bank of Australasia in 1876. First constructed with two stories in Oamaru stone, three more floors were added to the neo-Classical building in 1930. Many architectural details make the building stand out as an example of Renaissance Revival design, including its third-floor cornice and corner pilasters. The building ceased to be a bank when it was sold in 1974. It was renovated as an apartment building in the late nineties and housed tenants for twelve years, until it was sold again and reopened as Treasury on Collins. The hotel maintains its classical elegance both outside and inside, with a vaulted foyer that boasts nine chandeliers.

The Apartments

The 65 apartments in the 4-star hotel are spacious, and many are split-level, with extra-large windows. One reviewer describes a loft apartment with a single window that spans both floors. In addition, the rooms feature a kitchenette with a microwave, kettle, and Nespresso machine; a mini-bar; a washing machine; a dining and sitting area; board games and DVD; and many other conveniences. All rooms also include free wi-fi and Netflix.

Other Amenities

Guests can also enjoy a variety of amenities outside their rooms. For example, guests are provided with a complimentary continental breakfast, snacks all day, and a glass of wine on the mezzanine each afternoon between 4 and 6 p.m. The hotel welcomes guests to relax and socialize in the leisure room. There is also a fitness center, Jacuzzi, meeting rooms, a business center, and laundry service.

Proximity To Other Attractions

Centrally located in downtown Melbourne, the hotel is in walking distance of many excellent restaurants, cafes, and shops. The hotel is also close to major attractions, like Federation Square, the National Gallery of Victoria, and the Melbourne Aquarium. Since the hotel is in the fare-free tram zone, guests can travel throughout the Central Business District for free.

Visitors to Melbourne can enjoy exploring a fascinating city from a convenient location. The elegant and historic architectural design of the building and the attention to detail in the rooms and in the services provided make a stay at Treasury on Collins a unique and memorable experience.
